Stealth
"He attacks from the back," Kettman said. "You never see it coming. He has six toes on every foot, which constitutes a very formidable weapon."
When the subject includes "stealth" and a "cat", it's just too funny.
I read this awhile back, but I still find it funny. Just imagine the scenario...

My First Time
For the first time in my life, a bird shit on me yesterday while I was eating outside at Barbettes. I was sitting with Tony when suddenly I felt something hit my shoulder and I looked over in horror and saw that it was bird shit. I just imagined that it was running down my back and shirt. I began to slap at Tony's arm frantically and told him, "Tony, a bird just shit on me!"
Fortunately, I had been wearing a shirt with a very open neckline and even though it hit me on the shoulder, it only hit skin and not the shirt.

What is Wrong with People?
Seriously, since when is protesting a funeral a good thing? Oh, let's do it for the Lord and alright, it's good.
Everyone needs to see this. Even if you do not agree with homosexuality, I don't understand how you can feel that this is justified in any way.

"Get Yo' Ass Outta da Street!"
First off: I hate people.
I was biking to work yesterday and I'm on the street, not the sidewalk, as I always am.
OK PEOPLE...it IS legal for a biker to be on the street AND it's more dangerous on the sidewalk because cars don't look at the sidewalk for bikers; I know this as I have almost gotten hit SO many times by being on the sidewalk. Also, pedestrians are annoying if you come up behind them and besides, they hate having us on the sidewalks too.
Anyway...I'm biking on the street, staying on the far right side like a good biker. I'm really in no one's way. A blue SUV passes me and the passenger (ok...the fucking passenger!) yells out the window, "Get yo' ass outta the street!"
I flipped her off and told her to "shut the fuck up!" God, I wanted to catch up with her so bad and tell her that at least my fat ass isn't being driven around all day and at least I'm not contributing to the death of the Earth.
God people, fuck you.

Just Because I Thought it was Funny
The other night, a man (probably in mid-40's) who goes by the name "Captain Tony" came over to the house to visit. Emily has been friends with him for five years; he lives in Dinky Town with his dog, Fifty. I guess you can't really call him homeless, but he doesn't really have a home. I'm wanting to think that he lives in a camper? Anyways, so he just came back from Wisconsin (where he was working with his brother) and is back to live in Dinky Town, but it turns out that he hadn't "set up camp" yet. It's around midnight and I'm in my room doing homework, when I walk out and find out that Emily has invited him to stay the night. Immediately I just feel really anxious. It's not that I don't trust the guy exactly; I've met him before and he's always been really nice, but he just drinks all the time and it seems like someone in his position who doesn't have a lot might make some rash and bad decisions. To make it worse, I then find out that Emily was going to stay at Matt's place so I was to be alone with the "Captain" in my house. Uhhh...he's a grown man and I'm just a petite girl. Get why I was nervous?
Luckily, I had an escape route: Joe's place. I got to his place a little before one and we watched some Family Guy and a couple other shows that weren't too impressive, namely the MTV2 one with the puppets. As Joe headed to bed, I curled up on the couch with Coonie. In the morning I woke up to find all three of Joe's roommate's cats staring at me with wide, hungry eyes; one on the table, one on a chair, and the other on the floor. As I walked into the kitchen to eat Joe's beloved cereal, they followed me and begged me for food, but as I could not find it, I made my apologies and ate in front of them.
Thank you Joe!

Yeah Yeah Yeahs!
I saw the Yeah Yeah Yeahs last Sunday and I must say...Great show!
Tony and I got there around 8:00 and waited in line for around 15 minutes. Once inside, I met up with a couple of people we worked with and we all headed into the crowd. As we were there right on time, we got up front quite quickly, though we weren't quite at the gate at the front. When the first band ended (Blood on the Wall), I had managed to squeeze my way up as far as I could, but there were a couple of obstacles obstructing my path to the VERY front.
One was a bigger girl, and another was a 6' tall skinny guy. This short girl beside me was getting into little fights with the two and they were both angry, so I knew there was no way to sweet talk my way in. When the Yeah Yeah Yeahs came on, I could barely see for I was right behind the guy. The crowd was pushing really hard from behind so I used it as an excuse to lay into the guy in front of me. A couple of times Tony picked me up to see over the guy and I just kind of laid on top of him. After two songs though, I decided I just couldn't handle it anymore. There was this minute space between the guy and girl and I just went for it. I put all of my weight into pushing into the guy with my right side. While the short girl cheered me on, the guy strained to push me back, but I managed to hook my right elbow over the gate and started to pull myself forward, and then hooked my other elbow on the gate. I was so close to getting my spot when suddenly the guy put his elbow in my face and made ready to push me back, but Tony got pissed at him for almost hitting me and started saying shit like, "You pussy-ass bitch!" Security came over and made sure things were alright, and I got my spot!
God, I was so sweaty by that time. But I didn't care. I had Karen "Fucking" O. standing in front of me singing!
Oh, I love when you can tell that musicians really love what they're doing; from time to time, Karen O. would just break out in a smile and giggle as she jumped and twirled onstage. For their encore they did an acoustic version of "Maps" and then followed that with "Date with the Night."
Tony and I both agreed that we think "Maps" is better electric; it's a rare song that's actually seems to be stronger and more powerful as electric. The acoustic just didn't give it enough power and emotion.

Welcome to my Neighborhood
Last night there were police cars, blocks taped off, camera crews, and a swat team only a block away. This is why.

Chillin'

Tony and I were eatin' Arby's down by Lake Calhoun today. Though it was overcast, being down by the lake gave the day a really peaceful feeling, and it was nice to see the rain drops hitting the lake.Today was supposed to be my last day before heading home to Iowa for the weekend, but now it isn't so. I found out there are supposed to be severe storms tonight in Iowa at about the time I'd be getting home, so I have postponed my trip.
So instead I sit back, soak up love from Leeloo, and waste time watching videos on internet and listening to my new P.O.S cd. Ah yes.

Writing and Raving
I haven't written an actual entry in awhile....well, "actual" in terms of where I'm at and how I'm feeling. I just bought a new journal today and was writing in it a wee while ago, so I think I'll share, though I've left some stuff out... : )
I've been in a writing slum lately; I use "slum" for I have no better word to describe it. Tony has begun to get more interested in writing; he has started writing brief passages in a notebook and even read some of them to me last night as we laid in bed awaiting sleep. He turned on the light beside his bed, took out his notebook and began. And later as we laid in wait and silence, he piped up, "Will you help me work on a story?"
Interesting, never thought I'd hear him say that. He even told me once that since becoming friends with me, his writing has greatly improved and he thanks me for some of it. Wow.
But as I have read his stuff, I find myself feeling dismayed and envious. I like the way he writes and describes situations; he really takes a moment in and describes it fully in feeling and thought. In reading his stuff, I feel that I really have nothing special, that my writing really will never go anywhere.
It sucks, it's a horrible feeling to feel like a failure.
I've been throwing fits lately; fits aimed at Tony and the World. I feel broken down, bruised, and cheated. I feel like I've been dealt a bad hand. But aren't these the stereotypical feelings of a stereotypical person my age? I feel that I'm going through something that no one else has had to deal with, but isn't just stereotypical too? I hate the thought that my pains and anguish are just expected of me.
Whatever, I know the intensity of what I'm going through. I know it's not stereotypical; I know it's not bullshit.
It feels like my heart is being broken every day. I'm reminded of this daily with thoughts, feelings, conversations, actions and even just from sight. What's worse, I've begun the course of a new crush on a boy of 19 (no, he doesn't seem to be that young) and I feel confused about what actions to take. End the things that make me feel comfortable (for now at least) and try to pursue something I don't know the outcome of, or just sit back and miss out on something that I might be able to attain? I can't stop thinking about him, I can't stop daydreaming about the possibilities. But I also can't stop thinking about what could go wrong: more heartbreak, more devastation, an uncomfortable friendship.
I'm the only one who can get myself out of this mess, but I constantlly refuse to help myself. The exits are all around me; the pro's proportionally outweight the cons, and I'm still closing myself off to it all. I don't listen to the positives of exiting. It's fear that keeps me in; it's fear that keeps me from stepping out and saving myself.
I'm putting my blinders on.
Ha, sounds pretty dramatic eh? Yeah, so I am dealing with some shit that only a few people know about. It sounds bad, but I've been dealing with it for almost a year now. It's been hard, and though it feels like too much at times, I know honestly that it's not. I can deal with it, I just don't want to. And yeah, my entry is vague.
Yeah.
