A'Venture to Chicago

Tony has a friend, Katie, who is coming to visit next weekend. He met her while living in California and now she and her bf live in Chicago. So they're coming up next weekend and we have decided to go back down to Chicago with them to stay for a few days.

It shall be fun. I've been once, but it was a school trip. Besides, now that I'm older and such, I think I'll appreciate the city more. I guess they live about a 45-minute train ride away from the city, so while they work, we'll just hop the train in and spend our days perusing the city. We might make a stop at the Field Museum; we just recently saw The Ghost and the Darkness, so we want to check out the lions. Anyone know of any other good spots to stop at?

I HATE Growing Up

I was kicked off of my dad's insurance because of the fact that I am now a resident of Minnesota. So I call American Family Insurance to see what kind of a deal I can get...and the lowest rate for me will be $310 a month.

Car Insurance + Rent = "Liz can't afford it."

So as I usually do, I call up Mom in lue of any better idea. Things aren't looking too swell. I can't get a student discount for American Family Insurance for I'm not 21 and my best bet right now is Progressive, which will probably be around $150. Even that I can't really afford, and I dont' want to keep asking my parents to help me out.

I like the idea of getting rid of my car; it'd be an easier option if I didn't live so close to home. Home only being a state away makes the prospect of going home so much easier. But if I were to live in say...Boston : ), I wouldn't need a car for it's not like I'd be driving home anytime soon.

But for now, I have NO insurance and I don't really know what to do.

Mommy!

N____ Please!

This is something a 40-year old white male in a sweater and slacks should not be saying!

So funny when he says, "N___ get that pencil"

Superbowl Party?...

As Tony is from Pittsburgh, we've been watching the Steelers the whole season, and what do you know, they're in the Superbowl. Tony had claimed he'd get the day off if they were playing, but yeah...he's working tonight. I thought I might watch the game with Tony's uncle, but turns out he left for Hawaii yesterday.

Damn, damn, damn!

So what am I doing? I'm going to Tony's uncle's place to watch the game by myself. Tony's going to try to get done at 8 so that he can come and watch the end of the game.

Oh, and I'm making Chili. It's in the crock pot right now, and it smells good.

An Ongoing Cycle

My car has given me sooo many problems. The transmission was replaced, brake pads were replaced, I had a couple of electrical problems...and just the other day my power steering belt broke.

My car just keeps slapping me in the face with new problems.

So today I had AAA tow my car from the Target parking lot to Campus Auto Repair and found out that it would cost me $108 to get it fixed. I didn't have a ride home and was asking one of the guys about the bus line to see if he knew what bus to take. He had no idea and said that he would give me a ride home.

Score!

So this guy gave me a ride home, so very nice of him. We talked of various car shops around the cities and of school. I ended up finding out that he used to be a pro Hockey player for the Pittsburgh Penguins and for some other team...That was interesting. At one point in the car ride home I made a comment about how I was 19 and he said, "You're only 19? I would have guessed you around 22, 23. Not that you look old, you just come across as being older, just the way you talk."

Nice...
