Fountain Swimming

Fireworks

Tony came back from Boston on Saturday and so immediately we hung out. Of course.
That night I went with him and his uncle to go see the fireworks. First we went to this apartment building by the Mississippi where one of his uncle's friends was hosting a party. The apartment was one of those million dollar places; all of the furniture was modern and there were expensive rugs here and there and paintings all over the walls. I felt so out of my element!
For the fireworks, we headed down to the Stone Arch Bridge and took a place towards the middle and waited for the fireworks to start. There was this group of a couple of older mom's with two young teenage girls and this one mom was just insane. She kept hooting and hollering when the fireworks were going off and she was making the two younger girls stand up to get their picture taken in front of the fireworks.
I must say, the fireworks were very enjoyable; just 20 minutes of eye stimulation. And I'm used to the fireworks that State Center has after our town celebration in June. Take all of State Center's fireworks and fire them off all at once, and you won't even have the finale that I saw that night.
We headed back to the apartment to "chat it up" with some people before we left. When we entered the building and made our way to the elevator, who left the elevator but none other than the Mayor of Minneapolis. Not that it had much impact on me, I had no clue it was him until Tony's uncle made a comment.

Fountain Swimming

Yesterday Tony and I biked all over Northeast and Uptown. The weather was hot and so we figured out how to cool ourselves down.
We were biking to my place and were going through Loring Park when Tony turned towards the fountain in that park. He threw down his bike, took off his shirt, and just dove into the fountain. I followed suit soon after him, though I did not shed my clothing. : )
Tony found a cd while in the fountain and there were two cds inside. So now I've got a Tori Amos cd and The Soviets.
After that fountain, we continued on the way to my place and before leaving downtown, we spotted another fountain in front of a building and decided to check it out. There were a couple of homeless guys there washing their shirts but we dove in anyways; they got quite a kick out of it.

I think this will be a new hobby for us.

You found the secret to staying cool on a hot summer day! I figured it out with a girl many years ago when we went bumper boating at a place on Rice St in Saint Paul, got drenched and spent the rest of the day outside. We were sitting at the Purple Onion coffee shop when it hit us that we weren't hot at all. When evening came, we were dried off and comfy. It was pretty awesome!
